TikTok Notes could be Instagram's next rival. No official announcement but a series of screenshots shared by the specialized site TechCrunch attempting to explain how a new app connected to the social network managed by the Chinese ByteDance could work.
Some users, especially in the United States, would also have received a notification in the main TikTok app anticipating the arrival of the app, a bit like what was done with Instagram before the launch of Threads in Europe, an alternative to X-Twitter.
Apparently, anyone who decides to sign up for Notes, starting from TikTok, will have the opportunity to automatically transfer their posts with photos to the new platform, which will focus exclusively on images.
“As part of our ongoing commitment to innovate the TikTok experience, we are exploring ways to allow our community to create and share their creativity with photos and text in a dedicated space for those formats,” a company spokesperson told TechCrunch. In March, some developers spotted references to a software called TikTok Photos in the code of the TikTok Android app.
However, recent notices indicate a name change for the new solution. TikTok is also experimenting with different formats such as 30-minute videos and text posts similar to X eThreads to broaden its user base.
