The adoption of generative artificial intelligence could bring benefits equal to 1,750 billion dollars a year to public administrations around the world by 2033. This is stated by a study by the Boston Consulting Group consultancy company, which underlines how, in Italy, the so-called GenAi (generative artificialintelligence) will increase the productivity of PAs by approximately 25 billion dollars per year. The analysts, together with Salesforce, conducted an analysis of 41,600 frequent web users in 48 jurisdictions globally. The report, titled "GenAi: The Trust Multiplier for Government," finds that while many citizens feel comfortable with the idea of government using artificial intelligence, there are two main sources of concern: the speed of implementation and the potential impact. on jobs. Italians say they are mainly concerned about the loss of jobs (36%) and the skills of individuals who use these tools (30%). In Italy, only 4% of respondents use GenAi tools at least once a day, on the average of 16% globally and 15% in the United States. The highest percentage is in Qatar, equal to 42%.
According to the report, 23% of people in the world have never used generative artificial intelligence. 48% of interviewees in our country feel comfortable interacting with AI to access government services.
However, more than a third do not trust governments to use technology responsibly. Since 74% declared they had had problems with public administration digital services in the last two years, almost the same percentage (75%) expects the quality to be on par with that of the best private sector companies, thanks to the implementation of technological innovations.
