A brutal femicide shocked the 700 inhabitants of the quiet town of Lucio V. López this Thursday, about 45 km northwest of Rosario.
A 64-year-old man stabbed his partner to death in front of his 4-year-old daughter
on the town's main avenue. After the murder
he attempted suicide
, but failed and was taken to a hospital.
According to local media reports, the man — identified as LER — first attacked his partner
María Eugenia Domínguez
(37 years old), inside the house to which they had recently moved from Rosario. The woman managed to escape from her, but
the murderer chased her with a knife to 500 Belgrano Boulevard
, an avenue of just over four blocks that is the main avenue in the town. There he committed the crime.
"He hit her in the face, he kicked her, he went home, came back with a knife and
started hitting her in front of the 4-year-old girl.
A man took her away. If not, he would keep seeing that," said one witness to the event during a tribute held by neighbors to ask for justice.
After murdering her, the man
tried to commit suicide
with the same knife, causing himself severe injuries. However, he was caught by the Police and taken to a hospital in Rosario, where he remains hospitalized with a reserved prognosis. Along with his evolution, Justice will define the day and time to make an accusation.
Shock over femicide in Santa Fe
"
Something like this has never happened here
," lamented a neighbor at the demonstration. "At twelve noon, and in front of the four-year-old girl," another woman was shocked, surprised by the brutality of the murder in the town, of just 716 inhabitants.
Mónica Aran, communal president of Lucio V. López, said before the murder "the victim went to the Commune to ask for a refund because
she wanted to go to Rosario,
because her husband had psychological problems and they were not completely well."
She indicated that they consulted her and gave her approval for them to give her the trip, but "
after five minutes, or ten, they had already killed her."
After the crime, the community of Lucio V. López
organized a march under the slogan Ni Una Menos in front of the red bench in the main square
, which seeks to raise awareness and make visible gender violence and femicides.
The San Lorenzo prosecutor Leandro Lucente was in charge of the case. Local media reported that he ordered the commission of a criminalistics office to survey the scene of the incident, collect traces, photographic expertise and take testimonies.
