The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, arrived at the University of Trieste where, during a ceremony in the Aula Magna, he will be awarded an honorary degree in Law together with the former President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.
Welcoming the head of state in Piazzale Europa, where the university is located, were the prefect of Trieste, Pietro Signoriello, the president of Friuli Venezia Giulia, Massimiliano Fedriga, and the mayor of Trieste, Roberto Dipiazza. Mattarella then climbed the staircase leading to the building, named after JanPalach, where he was awaited by the Minister of University and Research, Anna Maria Bernini, and the rector of the University, Roberto Di Lenarda.
With the President is his daughter Laura.
