Greenery, flowers and a “creative” atmosphere. This is the promise of the Parcelle, the “cultural garden” of which the first part opens this Monday, April 15 to the public at Porte d'Aubervilliers in front of the 19M, the Chanel factory which is carrying out this project.
At the foot of the vessel where eleven art houses and their 600 artisans have been meeting for two years, there is a plot of land that has become vacant after the forced move of a warehouse store. The freed area represents 4,200 m². It will be reserved for the extension of the T8 tramway. While awaiting the start of work in 2027, the site was the subject of a call for expressions of interest launched in 2023 by the City of Aubervilliers, Paris and the Plaine Commune territory. It becomes the Parcel as part of a transitional occupation.
The 19M envisions the place as “a link” between the city of Seine-Saint-Denis and the capital. He surrounded himself with several partners present in both municipalities. The maintenance of the garden and its animation will be ensured by the Vergers Urbains and the Paris 19th district management. Gardening workshops will be offered there from mid-April. The entire location will open in June. Third places and cultural sites Station - Gare des Mines, Poush, Corvée and Centquatre-Paris will participate in the programming.
Free and open to all, the Parcel will welcome families as well as workers from the surrounding neighborhoods. After 2027, greenery will give way to construction equipment for the extension of ten T8 stations between Porte de Paris in Saint-Denis and Rosa-Parks station in Paris. The commissioning of the extension is planned for 2031.
