Germany has announced that it will send a new Patriot air defense system to Ukraine to help the armed forces repel increased
Russian airstrikes, the government announced. “Due to the increase in Russian air strikes against Ukraine, the German government has decided to further strengthen Ukraine's air defense,” the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Kiev is actively negotiating for two batteries of Patriot missiles and one of the Samp-T weapons system, after he indicated yesterday that he had spoken with his Italian counterpart Antonio Tajani, regarding the " concrete steps on how Italy can take an active role
in researching air defense systems and making coordinated decisions on their delivery to Ukraine".
Bild journalist Julian Röpke, who covers the fighting in Ukraine, said on X that Ukraine has run out of missiles for the Patriot and Iris-T air defense systems. Ukrainska Pravda reports it. "Ukraine has run out of Patriot and Iris-T missiles. Most other air defense stocks have also been exhausted or destroyed," the journalist says.
Moscow announces a conquest in Donetsk, Kiev denies it
Russia claims to have captured a Ukrainian village in the Avdiivka area of Donetsk. Russian soldiers, Moscow's Defense Ministry said, had "liberated" the village of Pervomaiske, south-east of Avdiivka, which the Russians captured in February.
However, Ukraine does not confirm the alleged Russian conquest of Khasiv Yar, stating instead that it repelled Russian attacks on the Donetsk village. However, Kiev admitted, through the commander of the armed forces, Oleksandr Syrsky, that the situation on the Donbass front has "significantly deteriorated" due to Russian military pressure.
Syrsky also said that given the inferiority of weapons and ammunition, Ukrainian forces are gearing up to perfect electronic warfare and technology on the front.
