In 2026, “I will be a candidate for my succession”. Christian Estrosi formalizes his candidacy for the 2026 municipal elections in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes) on Friday evening in the columns of Nice-Matin. He hopes to return for a fourth term at the head of this town on the Côte d'Azur.
“I feel free, relaxed,” he told the local daily. Christian Estrosi, also president of the Nice Côte d'Azur Metropolis, also says he is "serene", because "all the major projects" for Nice and its metropolis are on the right track according to him.
If he is re-elected to city hall, Christian Estrosi assures that his “only projects will be life, daily life and ensuring the success of our major events, such as the Tour de France or the Ocean Summit of the United Nations in 2025.
What about a candidacy from Eric Ciotti?
The vice-president of Horizons also assures that he does not fear the possible candidacy of Éric Ciotti, the boss of the Republicans and deputy for Alpes-Maritimes. “I don't bang my head against every wall from morning to night... There are those who prefer to be in the daily acerbic commentary rather than in the action. (…) Everyone has the right to stand in an election, but not to ruin people’s lives,” he tackles in Nice-Matin.
The rivalry between the two politicians recently reached a very strong peak around potential personal expenses of Christian Estrosi. Opponents and relatives of Éric Ciotti questioned the expenses of the mayor of Nice, who defended himself with photos and filed a complaint.
