The man had taken the train from Amiens, destination Arras. Arriving in this town in Pas-de-Calais, he was arrested at the station and placed in police custody on Friday April 12 late in the morning. The man, aged 22, is suspected of having stabbed an employee of a bakery in Bagneux, in Hauts-de-Seine, on April 10.
The mystery remains as to the motive for this homicide. Wednesday evening, between 11 p.m. and 11:45 p.m., the employee of this bakery located on rue Charles-Boileau goes out to take a break to smoke a cigarette. It's the evening of the end of Ramadan, he has worked late, and is taking a break on the sidewalk. It was then that he was allegedly accosted by two men. According to video surveillance images, the two suspects first started a discussion with the baker, before the situation turned tragic. One of the men then allegedly stabbed the victim several times.
Despite the rapid intervention of emergency services, the 47-year-old man died from his injuries. He suffered from 5 wounds, including one on his carotid artery. He lived in Argenteuil, in Val-d'Oise, and was unknown to the police.
The neighborhood in shock
In this small street in a quiet neighborhood of Bagneux, there remains no trace of the drama that played out here. But traders are in shock. “It’s not easy,” the bakery employee told us. She didn't know the victim well. Her colleague worked in the back room in the evening, when she stayed behind the counter. She does not understand what could have motivated an act of such violence.
Same incomprehension in a store located opposite the bakery. “It’s a quiet neighborhood, we’re not used to this kind of event,” says the merchant, who often encountered the bakery employee. “It was someone smiling, saying hello. He seemed discreet, without incident,” the man continues, sadly.
The main suspect was therefore arrested and taken into police custody. The investigation was entrusted to the sub-direction of the Hauts-de-Seine judicial police.
