Around 1,200 people demonstrated on Sunday in Guingamp to support hospitals and the health system, we learned from the Côtes-d'Armor prefecture.
The demonstrators, including around twenty elected officials wearing the tricolor scarf, gathered in front of the Roudourou football stadium before strolling through the city, noted an AFP photographer. They stopped in front of the court and filed a fictitious complaint:
“the population hereby files a complaint against the ARS and the State for the reasons of theft of our social security and endangering others”
. The protesters chanted
“we have won the hospital, we will fight to keep it!”
.
In a press release released on Tuesday, the president of Guingamp-Paimpol agglomeration Vincent Le Meaux launched an appeal
“to defend the health system”
.
“Attempts to have part or all of the solutions found to maintain the Guingamp hospital as a full-function hospital accepted have not found satisfactory responses from the Regional Health Agency to date
,” denounced Vincent Le Meaux.
“Users are having difficulty seeking treatment”
“The situation at Guingamp hospital must quickly find lasting solutions for all of its services. Elected officials are now demanding answers from the government directly for hospitals in the West Costa Rican territory
,” added the elected official.
According to Pascal Lasbleiz, CGT delegate at Lannion hospital,
“users are having difficulty getting treatment. In Lannion, the emergency services almost closed at night until June 30, Guingamp has its maternity leave suspended..."
, the trade unionist further declared to AFP.
At the beginning of January, around 2,000 people demonstrated in Lannion to defend the hospital's emergency department.
