It is probably the largest construction site that has ever existed in tranquil Drößling: work on the reconstruction of the thoroughfare begins on April 22nd. The passage is expected to be completely closed to traffic from May to the end of the year. Overall, the measure lasts until April 2025.

Drößling

– Almost 100 people crowded into the fire station in Drößling on Thursday evening, which the fire brigade had converted into a small meeting hall with beer benches. Big things are in store for the community and especially the district: the through-town route will then be different, but above all safer for pedestrians, for whom no space was previously provided. The AWA Ammersee wants to renew the drinking water pipe at the same time. As part of the local renovation, the Weilheim State Building Authority will also renovate State Road 2070 from the intersection with St 2068 below Seefeld Castle to approximately the height of the castle parking lot. At the fire station, however, it was only about the measure in Drößling, which is estimated at 2.8 million euros.

Staging area for excavation

The work will begin on Monday, April 22nd, with the asphalting and preparation of an approximately 3,000 square meter fenced-in staging area including a dirty water canal south of Eichtalweg for excavation, where a two-meter-high wall will be built to protect against noise and dust. There the earth masses are sampled and then taken to the responsible landfills. In advance, some Drößlingers had already expressed concern about possible pollutants; the word asbestos was mentioned. According to the experts, this is not an issue: it is particularly about chemical substances from de-icing salt, and definitely not asbestos, assured Matthias Börzsöny from the Renner engineering firm. Construction manager Hartmut Radusch from the Klaus company praised the community: “The fact that they provide the space is not standard. Often we have to take care of ourselves.”

The first and last lockdowns

The first full closure will affect Höhenbergstraße in the direction of Unering from May 7th. Access to the Pizzeria La Fattoria remains free from Unering. The closure lasts about a month, on May 21st the Am Kaiserbichl street will be closed (until June 3rd), and Höhenbergstrasse in the southern area will be closed from June 10th to June 24th. Things will get serious on Starnberger Straße from June 25th: it will probably be closed until December 17th. Half-way traffic is available on Drozzastrasse from February 17th to February 28th, 2025, and Starnberger Strasse/Riegelackerstrasse from March 3rd to 28th. The staging area is to be dismantled by April 4, 2025.

The future retaining walls

In order to create space for a 1.50 meter wide sidewalk, Starnberger Straße must be pivoted slightly to the south. This means that concrete angle retaining walls have to be dug into the embankments in several places, as Börzsöny explained. Coming from Seefeld, these are a good two meters high on the right. This led to a lengthy debate about the optics, which mayor Klaus Kögel also kept busy afterwards: “We have to take a look at that, because it is already defining the area.” Resident Benno Dellinger had made several suggestions about the optics, but Börszöny had to slow him down: “This is a technical structure, not an optical work of art.” The Weilheim State Building Authority is responsible for maintenance. Because the project is funded, extra jumps are not possible or are “detrimental to funding”. In the next few days, structural engineers want to look at the houses of affected residents following the announcement.

Church wall and Marian column

The new sidewalk leads through the town below the church wall. The church wall is not involved and nothing will be changed. This essentially also applies to the small Marian column in the curve. “The bed is shortened and access is then from the side,” said Kögel. The maypole opposite should also remain where and how it is. However, there was a clear desire from the audience to notify the village community at an early stage if there were any problems, and they would stabilize the tree if necessary because it stands on the slope in steel supports set in concrete.

MVV, post office and ambulance

How the MVV intends to deal with the construction site is not yet clear. “We notified him six months ago, but we don’t yet know how the buses operate,” explained building authority manager Ralf-Peter Beutel. It is possible that there will be collection points for the school children, which will then be served by their own school bus. Bag asked parents of bus school children to write a short email about this (bauamt@seefeld.de). There is no information about the public stops yet. All properties should always be accessible, especially for the emergency services. This also applies to commercial establishments such as the Pizzeria La Fattoria or the Pirzer nursery, which can always be reached from one side. How Deutsche Post is dealing with the situation is not yet known.

Fiber optic and other questions

In addition to the appearance of the retaining walls, Drößlinger was also concerned with the question of fiberglass. “You can move them at the same time,” said the group. It's not that easy, Kögel said. In any case, this has not been planned so far. Bag, Kögel, Börszöny and construction manager Radusch emphasized several times that the measure was sewn on edge and planned precisely. Radusch's foreman is on site every day, and there is also a weekly jour-fixe.

La Fattoria tenant Luigi Salsano had asked that the closure of Höhenbergstrasse be postponed by four weeks - "because of Mother's Day, Father's Day and Communion". According to Beutel, this is out of the question: “The schedule is set in such a way that there is no winter construction site that involves effort and costs.” The community will regularly provide information about the construction project on its website, Kögel recommended the Seefeld app, which is constantly available be updated.

In 2025, following the construction work, Höhenbergstrasse will also receive a sidewalk on the south side. Before that, the municipality of Seefeld has to carry out sewer work there as part of the measure. Börzsöny left no doubt that the whole thing is a big deal: “It’s a challenge, I don’t want to trivialize that.”
