Consolidate and complete the implementation of the European single market to strengthen the competitiveness of Italian SMEs in the world. This is stated in a study carried out by Implementation Consulting Group, with the participation of Cna and collaboration with Amazon, which highlights how a more integrated single market can generate an increase in productivity, the creation of new jobs and greater attractiveness for investments. In Italy, small and medium-sized enterprises represent 99.9% of all businesses, 64% of GDP and 76% of employment in the private sector. However, only 54% of Italian exports are carried out by small and medium-sized enterprises. Among the exporting companies that participated in the research, more than 9 out of 10 (94%) indicated that access to the single European market is important for their business.
"Even potential exporting SMEs - we read in the report - confirm the possibility of taking advantage of the single market.
52% of these, in fact, foresee the possibility of increasing exports to private customers". The study highlights how "regulatory simplification and regulatory harmonization between the Member States of the Union" is needed. In fact, out of 216 companies interviewed, 73% believe that regulatory obstacles increase costs, 65% say that regulatory differences between countries reduce competitiveness, while 62% record a decrease in profits.
