The reporting by ARD and ZDF on Iran's attack on Israel is causing criticism. One searched in vain for special programs on Sunday night.
Munich - While Iran attacked Israel with drones and missiles and provoked an expansion of the war in the Middle East, Elton and Capital Bra puzzled over the answers to unusual questions on ARD.
The public broadcaster decided against interrupting the current program for a special program - the first reports of the attack emerged around 10 p.m. - and showed the quiz show "Who knows something like that XXL", which lasted over three hours, in full length. The Iranian attack on Israel was only discussed in the subsequent daily topics - around 90 minutes after the initial reports. A decision that caused a lot of criticism and ridicule - even from within our own ranks.

But even when the Tagesthemen reported on the latest developments as planned around 11:25 p.m., moderator Ingo Zamperoni caused the next stir with his introductory words. “It must have been very clear to those responsible in Israel that this incident would not remain without consequences,” said Zamperoni at the beginning of the broadcast. The 49-year-old was referring to the air strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, Syria, which was allegedly carried out by Israel on April 1st.
