Highlights: Langenbach's first village flea market took place on Sunday. Citizens from Langenbach sold discarded items in their gardens, in driveways and in front of houses and garages. Flea market fans praised this unusual concept, but suggested a digital map to show exactly where the sales stands are. “Neighbors spent the day more casually than they have in a long time,” said mayor Susanne Hoyer of the successful event.. Some got to know each other at the garden fence, others grilled together, others chilled together and others still chilled with each other in the garden. And further: “There will definitely be a sequel, perhaps, with adigital map and aculinary “culinary islands” and a digital menu,’ said mayor Hoyer, who added that it was “part of the plan” to have a sociable event in the village, as well as a bazaar and a fleaMarket.

Fantastic weather, great atmosphere and a colorful range of goods on many corners of Langenbach: the first village flea market on Sunday couldn't have gone better.

Langenbach

- Many citizens from Langenbach took advantage of the wonderfully beautiful weather on Sunday to sell discarded items in their gardens, in driveways and in front of houses and garages as part of the first village flea market. As uncomplicated as the concept sounds, it was also relaxed: toys, clothes, vehicles, dishes, bric-a-brac and much more were offered on (beer) tables, blankets or clothes racks - completely relaxed, in a great atmosphere and to the delight of the flea market fans, who praised this unusual concept.

“I think the idea is really great,” said Marcel Gebauer from Oberding. He and his family are real flea market fans, but they have never been to a village flea market. Going for a walk, chatting and finding bargains – he likes the concept. The only thing is: “You can’t do it on foot” – the community is too large to be able to visit all the stalls. But in principle it is a “great concept”. However, Gebauer suggested that it would make sense – and not just for visitors from outside – to create a digital map that shows exactly where the sales stands are.

Verena Juranowitsch from Langenbach, who joined forces with six other families at the flea market and sold at a centrally located farm, also sees it this way: “Next time we will need a digital card.” She herself cannot complain about a lack of visitors or too few We complain about sales, but it is important for out-of-the-way stalls or sellers in the districts that they are made known.

“A completely different flea market experience”

The slightly hidden flea market stalls were also easy to reach by bike, as Gabi Schäffler from Langenpreising reported. From Moosburg she cycled to Langenbach to take a look at the unusual concept. “Flea market is simply a great event. Nowadays it is absolutely trendy to give things that you no longer need to others.” Doing this in such an uncomplicated way is simply great. “It’s a completely different flea market experience – but very nice.”

Ulrike Reichelt spontaneously decided to sell at the flea market. She was already on duty at the Langenbach children's clothing and toy bazaar on Friday and Saturday, and on Sunday she took the opportunity to sell her things in front of her house. The idea of a sustainable weekend, as the bazaar and flea market had been advertised in advance, convinced them. Especially since: “There is just limited space in the basement.” And so she spent the sunny day comfortably in front of the house with her daughter Eva-Maria – on garden chairs under a large parasol.

Nicole Kraus was also there spontaneously: The mother of two decided at very short notice to offer her children's clothes, shoes, toys, etc. and lovingly arranged the items in her driveway. There she enjoyed the sun, a cocktail and chatting with the flea market visitors.

Meetings and discussions are “part of the plan”

The latter was also “part of the plan,” as Langenbach’s mayor Susanne Hoyer emphasized: In addition to the flea market sale, people should come together and chat. And that succeeded. “Neighbors spent the day more casually than they have in a long time,” she said happily. Sophia Pirrera, who had the idea for this village flea market, also found it “super nice that everyone had so much fun – it was a really sociable thing,” she said after her tour through the village. Some grilled together, others chilled together and still others got to know each other at the garden fence. The premiere was “successful,” said Susanne Hoyer. And further: “There will definitely be a sequel” – perhaps, if possible, with “culinary islands” and a digital map.
