Technological and energy neutrality is officially recognized by the G7 transport sector. We read it in point 19 of the 67-point maxi-declaration approved today by the Transport ministers of the 7 major world championships: the Italian Matteo Salvini, the Canadian Paolo Rodriguez, the French Patrice Vergriete, the English Mark Harper, the Japanese, Tetsuo Saito and US Deputy Minister Polly Trottenberg. Also present was EU Commissioner Adina Valean, who opened up a new discussion on the topic of electric cars "as early as next year".

Italy's role is crucial - according to Minister Salvini - in arriving at a declaration that "confirms the ecological transition, however devoid of ideology and based on common sense". "It's what we as Italy, as a ministry and as a party have always aimed for, because not everything is just electric", she comments. From the G7, however, the Italian minister is thinking of the EU, which has banned the production of endothermic cars from 2035 and which plans a verification in two years. According to him, "a review of these 'black' anti-European, anti-industrial, anti-environmental and pro-Chinese policies can resume as early as 10 June, not from 2026". "It is clear - he explains after the work has now concluded - that companies work in the long term" and a review can be made "immediately after the vote for Europe, hoping for a different balance in the European Parliament and the future Commission" with a "more concrete, more pragmatic, less ideological, less Timmermans and less socialist". "It is possible immediately - he underlines - as early as next summer". In fact, the G7 transport document talks about "zero- and low-emission vehicles and zero- and low-carbon and carbon-neutral renewable fuels, such as sustainable biofuels and e-fuels". "We recognize - say the 7 ministers - that it is important that the transition is socially and economically just, convenient and efficient, based on results and neutral from a technological point of view". Ministers also gave the green light to investments in "infrastructure for zero and low emission vehicles, in charging infrastructure and in alternative fuels and in the supply of affordable, low and zero carbon renewable and sustainable fuels". "We take note - we read again - of the importance of continuing a constructive and positive dialogue with private operators". The goal of the G7 ministers is to "ensure connectivity in the face of growing global instability" in a "poly-crisis context". In the document approved in Milan, the G7 ministers mention the various wars underway in Ukraine and between Hamas and Israel, and the blockade of the transit of ships in the Red Sea by Houthi terrorists. Hence the decision to establish a permanent table with the related economic contributions, on the proposal of the Canadian minister Rodriguez. "In this way - explains Salvini - we do not need other formal G7 to meet and we can also convene via call if necessary".
