About a month after the murder: an indictment will be filed this week against Ever El Razak Akram, 26 years old from Teiyeva, for the murder of Hodia Gabbai, who was shot to death while leaving a club in Haifa at the end of a night out. This, after the investigation of the case found his documentation on the security cameras, he returned to the place armed and masked after the police left - and opened fire on the compound.

The fatal event took place in the early morning hours of Saturday, March 9 at the entrance of the Golden Club on Allenby Street in the lower city. Then, a fight developed, as a result of which police forces were called to the scene. However, according to the police who dismantled the security cameras, minutes after the officers left, Akram, who is known to the police for violent crimes and is suspected of having been involved in a fight that broke out on the spot, returned to the scene in a car. So, got out of the vehicle masked and armed with a gun, and fired towards the entrance of the club. Gabai, who came to the scene with an acquaintance, was hit by this shooting, and according to the investigators was "in the wrong place at the wrong time", since neither she nor the acquaintance had anything to do with the fight. She was fatally injured and died on the way to the hospital.

"She died for no wrongdoing," said the commanders of the area, Deputy Superintendent Eli Magon and the head of the special investigation team Superintendent Nimrod Ben Dor of Gabai, a divorced mother of five children aged 5-14, who used to work at a club for a living as a waitress-bartender. "It's a very sad story and it also challenged the investigation because we started from nothing. The indications were very few, so every direction was considered," they continued.

At the end of the event, an assessment of the situation at the scene was carried out by Superintendent Danny Levy, commander of the Coast District, who assigned the investigation to the Carmel area crime-fighting unit, when only a few hours later the suspicion arose that the person who carried out the shooting was Akram, and he was arrested and kept behind bars since then . "He left the scene of the violent fight involving people who were probably drunk, returned and carried out the shooting, while he understood and saw that there were people there," the officers emphasized. "There is an issue here with governance and sovereignty, as well as an important message. On the one hand, we want people to have a good time, and on the other - we will respond to violence and reach out to those who commit such crimes."

There were other detainees who were suspected of being involved in the case, but they were all released after it became clear that they were not related to the murder. Also, Akram's driver, who is suspected of being involved in the incident, has not yet been arrested. "He is on the run and we are doing operations to locate him, but at the moment we do not know where he is. We know who he is," Ben Dor said.

In his investigation, Akram preferred to maintain his right to remain silent, when today at the Haifa Magistrate's Court the police presented a prosecutor's statement and Judge Orit Kantor extended his detention until Thursday, when the Haifa District Attorney's Office is expected to file the indictment against him.
