The Iranian ambassador to France was summoned Monday to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which informed him of Paris' condemnation of Iran's “irresponsible attack” against Israel, the Quai d'Orsay announced.
The ambassador, Mohammad Amin-Nejad, was reminded “with the greatest firmness” of the French condemnation of the attack perpetrated by Iran on the night of Saturday to Sunday, indicates the Quai in a statement.
" De-escalation "
“The Islamic Republic, by having launched this irresponsible attack, runs the risk of a conflagration in which no one would have any interest. These serious and unprecedented actions, which threaten the security of Israel, that of our partners, and regional stability, must stop immediately,” adds the Quai.
“France is working with its partners to de-escalate and calls on everyone to exercise restraint,” continues the ministry, which also reiterated to the ambassador its “demand for the immediate release of our nationals arbitrarily detained in Iran.”
Four French people are still detained in Iran, with Paris calling them “state hostages”.
Several summons in Europe
Several European countries, including Germany, the Czech Republic and Belgium, also summoned the Iranian ambassador to their soil on Monday to express their condemnation of the unprecedented attack this weekend.
