Summary.

It is one of the first major Parisian sites to be developed in anticipation of the Olympic Games. Place de la Concorde is to host several urban sports events such as BMX Freestyle and skateboarding. It will be completely closed to traffic from June 1 and last January, the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo announced that it would remain partly pedestrian after the Games.

This is not the first time that the pedestrianization of Place de la Concorde has been mentioned. This time, the reactions have been rather favorable, but questions persist about what will become of this site which has been the subject of numerous debates since the 18th century.

For Source Code Pauline Darvey, journalist for the Paris edition of Le Parisien, looks back on the eventful history of the capital's largest square.
