– “We are complete, everyone is on board,” says Karl Maurer happily. The operations manager, who has been in charge of both the Kreuth outdoor pool and the Rottach-Egern lake and warm pool since last year, can rely on a well-equipped workforce this year. He reports that we can even do without the services of the temporary employment agency that was used in Rottach-Egern last summer.
Upper limit in Fischbachau: This is not an issue at Tegernsee
A positive situation that cannot be taken for granted. All over Germany, outdoor swimming pools are struggling with a shortage of skilled workers and are left high and dry in terms of staff. You only need to look at your neighborhood in your own district: the municipality of Fischbachau has, for the first time, imposed an upper limit on visitors to its warm outdoor pool for the upcoming season. In order to ensure the safety of bathers, no more than 1,300 visitors will be allowed into the pool at the same time this year. The human resources are too scarce.
On busy days, around 2,400 visitors cavort in the Rottach outdoor pool
In the Rottach outdoor pool - located directly on the lake - there are around 2,400 visitors on very busy days who cavort in and around the pools. “Then man and machine are at their limit,” admits Maurer. But his team can definitely handle this situation. “We’re happy to take that with us,” explains the operations manager. It's only a seasonal operation anyway.
Rottach's manager Gerhard Hofmann also announced a season without restrictions for the community pool. A visitor cap is not an issue here - and hasn't been in the past either. Apart from the Corona period, he cannot remember a single situation in which the warm bath was so full that people had to be turned away. “We have no need to take any action,” he says.
The season in the Rottacher Warmbad starts on May 17th
Everything else in the Rottach outdoor pool remains as usual. The season starts on Friday, May 17th, and the pool will be open Monday to Sunday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission prices remain unchanged after increasing last season. The community has invested in smaller innovations: a new slide was purchased for the playground, and the non-swimmer pool was given a cover to prevent heat loss outside of operating hours. Preparatory work is also underway in the Kreuth outdoor pool
As in Rottach-Egern, preparations for the new season are also underway in the Kreuth outdoor pool: the pools are being cleaned thoroughly, the pool technology systems are being put into operation, and the outdoor facilities and sanitary facilities are being prepared. Whether the Kreuther Bad can open on May 17th depends on the weather: the water in the pool is brought to temperature here exclusively via solar collectors. But one thing is certain: in terms of personnel, nothing stands in the way of a smooth season in Kreuth. “Here too we are complete,” says Maurer.
In Kreuth, the surface around the swimming pool was renewed
In addition, the community has made its pool structurally and technically fit for the upcoming summer. The entire paving around the swimming pool was replaced. As Mayor Josef Bierschneider said when asked, the costs for this are around 120,000 euros. “The measure was necessary,” says the town hall boss. With the previous surface, the risk of injury was too high. According to Bierschneider, the investment sum also includes a renewal of the technology that was not originally planned. The device for equalizing tension between the pool and the outdoor area was redesigned. During the construction work, it became apparent that the old system could no longer be used.
