A person was arrested this Sunday and placed in police custody after practicing “train surfing” on line 2 of the metro, Le Parisien learned, confirming information from BFMTV. This particularly dangerous practice consists of standing on the roof of a metro train.
At 7:15 p.m., this Sunday, three agents from the Network Protection and Security Group (GPSR), securing the “Stalingrad” metro station, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, noted the presence of two young people on the roof of this airline in the direction of Nation. Upon arriving at the “Jaurès” station, the individuals jumped from the roof of the train onto the public highway, without injury, then fled on foot.
One of the two young people was arrested a little further away, Quai de Valmy (10th arrondissement). The second fled and was not found by authorities.
A “Go Pro” on the chest
According to our information, “initial findings established that the accused was in possession of a “Go Pro” type camera on his chest”.
On the other hand, “no deterioration was noted on the metro line”. There was also no interruption of traffic.
According to BFMTV, the daredevil's custody ended this Monday evening. This was referred for “penetration and circulation in a part of the railway line, or its dependencies, not allocated to public traffic, in public rail transport”. He faces six months' imprisonment and a fine of 3,750 euros.
