After his adventures in California and England in seasons three and four, Joe Goldberg (Penn Badgley) is back in New York. Netflix's favorite sociopath left his hometown after one murder too many, accompanied by his wife Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), then pregnant with his child.
As a reminder, the protagonist of

killed Love and left their son with their neighbors at the end of season 3, before creating a new life in London in season 4. After tumultuous events in England, Joe seems to have found her perfect accomplice in Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie), now Kate Lockwood-Goldberg.
Season 4 ended with the arrival of the Goldbergs in New York, after the discovery of Joe's dissociative identity disorder as the final twist. Images from the filming of season 5 provided by Netflix and fans of the series promise a final season full of twists and turns.
“We all know that there are a lot of details to sort out in Joe's past
,” announced Penn Badgley in the teaser for season 5, a few months ago. An understatement on his part: Joe abandoned his son, fled witnesses to his crimes in England and ignored the disappearance of Marienne Bellamy, the only woman who escaped him.
Captured by the Digital Spy media across the Atlantic, other images of the filming in New York have leaked and reveal a young actor, Frankie Demaio according to our American colleagues, between Penn Badgley and Charlotte Ritchie. No confirmation yet from production but it could be the son of Joe and Love Quinn. This theory, believed by fans who express themselves on social networks, would mean a jump in time. The child was still a baby in the third season, when viewers had left him behind. Never mind, the young boy is not the only new addition to the season's cast.
“Good luck, girl”

and Madeline Brewer (
The Handmaid's Tale
).
Anna Camp will play two characters, the Reagan twins and Maddie Lockwood, Joe's sisters-in-law. As for Joe's "

" brother-in-law, Teddy Lockwood, Griffin Matthews will be in charge. In their publication X
,
Netflix makes it clear that they are not white as snow:
“Everything is fine on this side…”
Madeline Brewer's future role earned her encouragement from Netflix:
"Good luck, girl."
Indeed, the young woman will play Bronte, a young playwright who comes to work in Joe Goldberg's bookstore. Unfortunately for Brewer, she is exactly the type of victim the sociopath is looking for...
To discover these new characters and the future of Joe Goldberg, we will have to wait: Netflix has not yet announced a precise date for season 5, except that it will be released in 2024.
