They want to denounce a
“repressive and discriminatory policy”
. To do this, they plan to surround Nantes station on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We cannot ignore the fact that after the costly work carried out at
Nantes station
, no location has been reserved to ensure optimal and secure care for our passengers
,” write the leaders of the transport companies. private public transport of people and craftsmen - VTC traders, in an open letter sent to Mayor Johanna Rolland and her services.
“We are asking for a specific space for the care of our passengers in optimal safety conditions.”
“There is no sign, sign, or location for us. We are forced to park anywhere, and the
police
fine us,”
says, exasperated, Levan Javelidze, manager of a company specializing in the transport of people by VTC. When one of his customers books a ride, finding him is a feat due to the lack of signage.
“Solutions are being studied”
Member of a group bringing together 165 VTC, he estimates that up to 180 demonstrators will mobilize on Tuesday.
“We advise taking the tram or favoring travel on foot or by bike,”
he warns, specifying that they will of course let emergency convoys, particularly medical ones, pass through. Departure is scheduled for 7:20 a.m. from the Lidl in Rezé. Once arrived at the station, some will be responsible for blocking roundabouts in the surrounding area.
“We are going to grow like a spider
,” summarizes David Tan, spokesperson for VTC drivers in Nantes.
Around 4 p.m., they will leave the railway district for a meeting at the town hall at 5 p.m.
“This has been going on for three years. They promise us things..."
, notes Levan Javelidze, without holding out much hope.
“The VTC drivers were recently received by the City and it is planned that a new meeting will take place soon. Their requests were listened to and solutions are being studied
,” the Nantes municipality tells Le
Figaro
.
While waiting for these solutions to emerge, drivers say they are more excited than ever. Unlike previous demonstrations, this is not a movement linked to a national demonstration, but rather a 100% local wind of discontent. According to them, this discontent reflects another injustice, linked to their competing sector which has dedicated locations:
“The Nantes station concerns us all, and it is unacceptable that there are advantages for private taxi companies. and nothing for VTCs in the Nantes metropolis
. Two months ago, taxis blocked the ring road to denounce unfair competition from VTCs.
