A judge, a rabbi, educators and entrepreneurs: these are the darlings of the city of Jerusalem

Highlights: The Beloved of the City of Jerusalem decoration is a tradition that began with the unification of the city in 1967. Out of 138 recommendations, the committee for selecting the beloved ones of Jerusalem chose 12 winners. The decoration will be awarded to the chosen ones on the upcoming Jerusalem Day. The individuals were selected by a public committee led by the retired president of the Jerusalem District Court, Judge David Cheshin. The award will be given to retired Judge Dalia Dorner for years of extensive legal activity and her tenure as a judge at the Supreme Court. Dr. Shmuel Levinger for his groundbreaking work in the fields of laser and eyeglass removal, and the establishment and management of the Eye Center in Jerusalem. Rabbi Yona Meshulam-Fodor for his extensive community activity as a certified rabbi who merges different sectors and merges religious and secular people. Mrs. Mia Halevy for making many initiatives and programs accessible for the promotion of science education in Israel.

The Committee for the Selection of the Darlings of the City of Jerusalem, has chosen the 12 Darlings of the City of Jerusalem for the year 2018. The decoration will be awarded to the chosen ones and the chosen ones on the upcoming Jerusalem Day. Mrs. Esther Gitel Yaakovovitz



The decoration will be awarded to Mrs. Esther Gitel Yaakovovitz for her pioneering activities in the field of education, and especially for her work in integrating students with needs in high school studies. In addition, Mrs. Yakovovitz founded and manages to this day a protected employment framework for female students with intellectual disabilities and also established a pioneering system in the ultra-orthodox sector for the training of educational counselors. Mrs. Mia Halevy



The decoration will be awarded to Mrs. Mia Halevy for her activity in making many initiatives and programs accessible for the promotion of science education in Israel. Dr. Shmuel Levinger

Rabbi Yona Meshulam-Fodor

The award will be given to Adv. Attorney Shapira has worked for many years on behalf of organizations and institutions in the city of Jerusalem, as part of his duties as chairman of the Jerusalem Theater Group and chairman of the Jerusalem branch of the Chamber of Economic Organizations.
