Summer has finally found its way to Germany. People were able to enjoy five summer days in a row - but what happens next?
Kassel – Since Friday, April 5th, 25 degrees or more have been measured every day in Germany. On Saturday (April 6th) people in Germany were able to enjoy the warmest day of the year - a record month is ahead.
Summer temperatures in Germany – will the weather hold up?
With the record heat of the year so far, meteorologist Dominik Jung looks ahead to the coming days and weeks. As the weather expert predicts, after the record February and March, there could now be the hottest April ever. It's not just extremely warm during the day, temperatures around 25 degrees were also recorded at night. The highest temperature so far during the day was measured in Ohlsbach, where the thermometer showed 30.1 degrees. However, there were strong squalls in some places.
Weather expert Dominik Jung initially has sobering predictions for summer fans: it will be cooler on Wednesday and Thursday. “From Friday it will be significantly warmer again. In the south the maximum values reach more than 20 degrees again, in the southwest up to 25 degrees. The coming weekend will bring up to 25 or 26 degrees in the center and south. “The extremely warm April continues happily,” Jung announced, to the delight of many.
Record heat in April: This is what the weather will be like in the coming days
As Dominik Jung from the private weather service
Q.met
tells us, he is hearing from some “experts” that after the warm days in April there could be cold, snow and frost again. “Complete nonsense. After two cooler days, it will be significantly warmer again on Friday and the weekend will probably bring highs of up to 25 or 26 degrees again,” he says. According to him, light frost only occurs at night at most: “But that’s completely normal for April.”
Meanwhile, the snow scenario in Austria is more realistic: the Austrian weather service GeoSphere Austria expects up to 50 centimeters of fresh snow.
Weather forecast from Dominik Jung for the coming days:
Monday:
17 to 28 degrees, often sunny, later showers and thunderstorms in the northwest
Tuesday:
11 to 27 degrees, very warm again in the east, otherwise cooler and showers
Wednesday:
12 to 17 degrees, mix of sunshine and clouds, hardly any showers
Thursday:
12 to 18 degrees, sometimes sunshine, sometimes clouds, especially nice in the south
Friday:
16 to 23 degrees, quite friendly, sometimes sunshine, sometimes clouds and dry
Saturday:
17 to 26 degrees, partly summery again, a mix of sunshine and clouds
Sunday:
17 to 26 degrees, sometimes sunshine, sometimes clouds, later isolated showers and thunderstorms from the west
For the German Weather Service (DWD) there is no end in sight to the summer temperatures. Nevertheless, it is said that the south and southwest in particular will benefit from a lot of sun. In the direction of the North and Baltic Seas, maximum temperatures of 16 degrees are forecast for the coming weekend. Even lower temperatures are likely on Sunday and next Monday and Tuesday, with renewed showers and even snow at high altitudes. (
