Renovation work needs to be carried out on the Ammerseewerke gKU collection sewer in Utting. The canal, built in the 1960s, actually transports the wastewater from the communities of Raisting, Dießen and Riederau via Utting and Schondorf to the association sewage treatment plant in Eching. But now it is leaking because of its old age. In order to bring the canal, which partly runs on private property, back into an operationally safe condition, extensive renovation work is planned this year, the Ammerseewerke announced - from May to September.
The leaks mean that wastewater can get into the ground and roots can grow into the sewer. These root ingrowths have already led to blockages, which “had to be remedied with considerable effort.” Together with the supervising engineering firm ing München-West, the renovation procedures were carefully tailored in detail to the local conditions. By using innovative renovation technology, excavation work can largely be dispensed with; small excavation pits are only required in some shafts. The tube liner process is used over long distances: a fiberglass fabric tube soaked in polyester resin is inserted into the previously cleaned sewer and cured there using UV light to form a new pipe, according to the Ammerseewerke announcement. Concrete renovation is carried out manually in the accessible shaft structures.
Ammerseewerke is renovating in Utting - house connection lines are also being renovated
As part of the work, the house connection lines on the properties from the house inspection shaft to the collecting sewer as well as the inspection shafts themselves will also be renovated. This can also be done using the pipe liner method without excavation.
In order to be able to carry out the work, the wastewater must be pumped past the collecting canal. For this purpose, pumps will be set up and pipelines will be laid in parts of Eduard-Thöny-Straße, Bei den Selzam Weiden, on the footpath along the railway and on Waldaweg to Bahnhofplatz. In addition, material and equipment must be used at various points on the canal for the measures, which also requires access to private property.
The work will be carried out from May to September by the Swietelsky-Faber company from Freilassing, the statement continues. In coordination with the municipality of Utting, the renovation work in the heavily frequented areas of the summer park, steamer pier, sailing school, café, restaurant and boatyard on Seestrasse up to the lido will only be carried out outside of the Whitsun and summer holidays.
The redevelopment area includes the following streets or parts of them: Eduard-Thöny-Straße, Summerpark, Seestraße.
The Ammerseewerke will bear the costs of the renovation measure amounting to around 1.5 million euros. Any damage to the land will be repaired free of charge.
The Ammerseewerke asks for the understanding of residents and visitors to the lake regarding the upcoming work. The renovation work on the sewers serves not least to protect Lake Ammersee.
