Highlights: White and rosé wines reach 50% of the choices and a decrease in still red wines to 38%. A general photograph, that of Ismea, confirmed by Francesco Mazzei, president of Avito, which brings together all the 22 consortia of Tuscany and 58 denominations. From Friuli, Michelangelo Tombacco, vice-president of Doc Friuli, points out that the extraordinary trend of sparkling wines has changed the vision of the entrepreneurs themselves. From the Marche region, the great work carried out in recent years is rewarding the Castelli di Jesi denomination, which, despite having an overall limited surface area, has acquired value. For the first time, structured whites - the president reports - have acquired a value similar to that of great reds in the public perception. In the last two years, the average value of the DOP has increased, rewarding the work of the producers. In 2024, we are starting to face difficulty, but we are confident because there are signs of a slight recovery.

Positive general trend for white and rosé wines which reach 50% of the choices and a decrease in still red wines to 38%. It is the change underway in production and consumer preferences photographed in an analysis by Ismea presented by Tiziana Sarnari in the Confagricoltura space at the 56th edition of Vinitaly, as part of a talk that brought together the voices of some reference Consortia . A general photograph, that of Ismea, confirmed by Francesco Mazzei, president of Avito, which brings together all the 22 consortia of Tuscany and 58 denominations. "The Maremma", explains Mazzei, focusing on some denominations - closes with a positive sign precisely because it is driven by the Vermentino which we have been able to valorise".

From Friuli Michelangelo Tombacco, vice-president of Doc Friuli, points out that the extraordinary trend of sparkling wines has changed the vision of the entrepreneurs themselves. "Consumers appreciate lighter and fresher wines - Tombacco specifies - our region, in the white sector, is known above all for Prosecco and Pinot Grigio delle Venezie, but the hill continues to make important wines such as Ribolla which the market appreciates ". From the Marche region, the president of the Marche Wine Protection Institute, Michele Bernetti, confirms that the great work carried out in recent years is rewarding the Castelli di Jesi denomination, which, despite having an overall limited surface area, has acquired value. "Furthermore, for the first time, structured whites - the president reports - have acquired a value similar to that of great reds in the public perception". As for the reds, Christian Marchesini, president of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Valpolicella, underlines the strength of the denomination which "represents just 8% of Veneto but is a driving force. Although we closed 2023 with a clear decline compared to the previous year - he know Marchesini - in the last two years the average value of the DOP has increased, rewarding the work of the producers. In 2024 we are starting in difficulty, but we are confident because there are signs of a slight recovery".

Federico Castellucci, president of the Confagricoltura Wine Federation, finally recalls that "reds have lost 8% of exports, therefore investments are confirmed as an indispensable choice to stimulate demand, trying to promote innovative consumption models".
