Italy-Tunisia, agreements signed for over 100 million euros

Highlights: The three "instruments" within the Mattei Plan signed between the Italian government and Tunisia are worth just over one hundred million euros. The agreement on direct support for the Tunisian state budget provides 50 million euros for energy efficiency and the renewable energy sector. The credit line in favor of small and medium-sized Tunisian businesses amounts to 55 million euros. A Memorandum of Understanding was then signed between the Italian Ministry of Universities and Research and its Tunisian counterpart, which will provide the framework for cooperation in this area between the two countries. The deal was signed on the occasion of the visit by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to Tunis. It was signed in the presence of Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and Tunisian President Mohamed Magarief. It is the first of a series of agreements between Italy and Tunisia on a number of economic and political issues. The next step is the signing of a memorandum of understanding on the future cooperation between the countries on a range of issues.
