“Bauer sucht Frau” is one of the most popular RTL formats – but the international offshoot cannot do much against the competition.

Cologne – The fans have already been looking forward to it: “Bauer sucht Frau International” is back on TV. Farmers from all over the world long for true love and seek the help of RTL and Inka Bause (55) to find a partner. But although the ratings at the start on April 16, 2024 were not bad at all, the “Bauer sucht Frau” offshoot cannot celebrate a ratings victory.

“Bauer sucht Frau International” suffered a bitter defeat against the ARD crime series

There was already a lot going on on the farms in episode one: three women left Peter's (33) farm at the “Farmer Looking for a Woman International” meeting. Farmer Andreas (63) from Guatemala was also not well received by the women. Fruit farmer Ulrike (57), on the other hand, seems to have better luck. At the first meeting, her candidate Heiko grabbed her and grabbed her bottom - which she was happy to do. And the broadcast actually secured RTL top ratings at prime time. The problem: The competition was simply even stronger.

According to dwdl.de

, ARD achieved

a clear victory among the overall audience aged three and over: 5.81 million people watched a new episode of “Murder with a View”. This gave the station a market share of 22.7 percent - twice as high as the “Bauer sucht Frau International” values. An average of “only” 2.82 million people watched the dome show on RTL, which corresponds to a market share of 11.8 percent. Some public evening programs also secured better ratings. For example, “Rosenheim Cops” received 16.3 percent for ZDF (3.72 million viewers).

Double defeat: “Bauer sucht Frau International” is also behind in the target group

Things were no different for the young audience, the target group relevant to advertising. “Murder with a View” was also more popular among 14 to 49 year olds – but “Joko & Klaas vs. ProSieben” also pushed past the dating show. While “Bauer sucht Frau International” only had 0.52 million viewers (11.5 percent market share), 0.69 million people tuned in to the ARD crime series (14.8 percent market share). Joko Winterscheidt (45) and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf (40) secured ProSieben the day's victory in prime time with 0.69 million viewers and 16.7 percent of the market share.

Meanwhile, ZDF was far behind - because “Mensch Merz!” was unable to score points with both the overall audience and the target group. With 1.93 million viewers in total and just 0.25 in the target group, only single-digit market shares were recorded. Things have looked better recently - because with Hans Sigl (54) and the "Bergdoktor", the Mainz station was often ahead in the ratings duel, at least on Thursdays.
