Inning's local council approved the preliminary draft for the extension to the Inning fire station on Tuesday. Mayor Walter Bleimaier called the EUR 2.5 million project “planning for the future”.

Inning

– No one on the local council doubts that the conditions at Pfarrgasse 13 in Inning are anything but ideal. This was also the case in the discussion about the draft planning for the expansion of the fire station on Tuesday evening. The house is too small and the deficiencies in the risk assessment take up around 25 pages. The list has been available since 2022. The building was already too narrow in 2009.

The gate was too low for a new vehicle, the lintel and screed had to be removed and new gates put in. The firefighters, then under Commander Alexander Dietz, carried out the conversion themselves. Nevertheless, to date there is only eight centimeters of space between the ladder on the emergency fire fighting vehicle (HLF) and the garage ceiling. Dietz is a local councilor for the FWG and is still an active firefighter. He found the objection of his council colleague Marita Seefelder (Greens) on Tuesday unjustified, who carefully asked in the discussion about the expansion of the fire station whether a basement extension with a freight elevator would be necessary given the high costs. What was originally a simple extension costing 800,000 euros has now totaled 2.5 million euros. “If you do something, you have to do it cleverly,” replied Dietz. Ultimately, everyone wants to keep the location at the town hall.

“A new fire station probably costs ten million euros. The classroom is also too small. The planning is already justified,” he said. He had only taken part in an exercise the day before. The 34 active members would hardly have fit in the room. In total, the troop numbers more than 50 men and women. The desired subsequent expansion of the attic with a training room in the extension is therefore justified.

The existing building is to be expanded to the south by around 14.80 meters. The hall with an area of 140 square meters offers space for two vehicles. The clear room height is 4.50 meters. A stairwell is planned on the currently existing external staircase, which will connect the basement, the hall and the training room in the attic. To the west of it, a freight elevator is planned so that the exchangeable roll containers with the necessary rescue equipment can be stored in the basement. The training room also has a balcony where, for example, exercises can be carried out with the ladder.

In order to make the training room in the attic possible, the development plan must also be changed parallel to the input planning. The additional floor does not meet the requirements of the current development plan, the main feature of which was that the roof profile remains the same. This is not possible with the training room. This is probably why construction is not expected to start this year.

The Europe-wide tender causes additional costs, noted Mayor Walter Bleimaier. A separate office would have to be commissioned for this. The municipality cannot avoid this requirement because the planning services (currently 221,000 euros) exceeded the so-called threshold. The local council unanimously approved the preliminary draft.
