Things were rustic on Hubert Aiwanger's second visit to Pastetten within a year. The Deputy Prime Minister was enthusiastic about the Maibaumstüberl and called for better cohesion in society.

– Almost exactly one year to the day after his appearance at the district farmers' day as part of the 111th anniversary celebration, Bavaria's Vice Prime Minister and Economics Minister Hubert Aiwanger was again a guest at the Pastetten boys' community on Tuesday. They invited him to the Maibaumstüberl together with the volunteer fire department.
“When we had the idea a few months ago, everyone said, 'He won't come anyway, he has something better to do than come to the little parlor in Baschding,'” reported Burschen chairman Andreas Wagner. It is now a great appreciation for the clubs like the boys and the fire department that he actually came.
Mayor Peter Deischl took the opportunity to address wishes to the state government. “Maybe there is a special funding pot for our fire station,” he said with a wink in the direction of Aiwanger.
The minister received the first applause from the approximately 200 listeners at the beginning of his speech when he said in reference to the Maibaumstüberl: “This is an extraordinary location, I have never experienced anything like it before.” He was visibly impressed by the combination a wooden hut with a former workshop on a demolished house. He told the boys in such a “fun way” that they had to party every day in such a beautiful bar, “so they told me that they would do that anyway.” And further: “I wouldn’t have believed you could do that, but apparently you have to be trusted with everything.”
The hut is only a temporary arrangement, but such a temporary arrangement sometimes lasts forever. “Mr Mayor, I am submitting the proposal that this restaurant be preserved,” said Aiwanger to cheers. “Just leave it alone, it’s already built, you don’t need any more permission.” You could use it for events, children's birthdays or town hall meetings.
In these “crazy times” there is nothing more important than society coming together and exchanging ideas. What was taken for granted for centuries is becoming increasingly difficult. People are increasingly being “harassed via social media” and caught up in world politics, but the problems on the ground are not being noticed enough. This leads to people withdrawing into their private lives and no longer wanting to know anything about politics. “We need a culture of encouragement and tackling again,” said Aiwanger.
The federal chairman of the Free Voters shot verbally at the traffic light government. He criticized the cannabis regulation, the Self-Determination Act, the inheritance tax and the ban on incinerators, and called for better protection of the external borders. The distribution of state resources must be better regulated and performance rewarded again. Afterwards, boys boss Andreas Wagner invited the guest to compete. He took up the challenge. The game ended with cheers, but in a draw.
