Busy year for the fire department

The defense team clocked up over 591 hours in 41 exercises. The troops were on volunteer duty for over 3,475 hours. The youth also showed a lot of commitment. With three youth groups, the club is not plagued by any worries about young talent, commander Ludwig Würmseer said happily. The successful Kogelfest had a positive effect on the club's coffers, as the income primarily benefits the active team and youth work. The members took part in numerous events, including Patronage Day, the Corpus Christi procession, and the Market Square Carnival. In addition to the three-day fire brigade trip, there was also a lot on offer within the club. The club was able to promote seven young firefighters into active service. There were also a few other promotions on the list.

Holzkirchen – On average, the Holzkirchen volunteer fire department was on duty more than every other day last year. At the general meeting, the armed forces looked back on an eventful and, above all, busy year. In addition to almost 110 members, chairman Christoph Kopp also welcomed Holzkirchen's mayor Christoph Schmid, district fire chief Franz Huber and numerous honorary members.

Praise for exemplary work

Mayor Schmid and district fire chief Huber praised the exemplary work and activities of the largest fire department in the district. Kopp looked back on how active the members were in 2023: The members took part in numerous events, including Patronage Day, the Corpus Christi procession and the Market Square Carnival. In addition to the three-day fire brigade trip, there was also a lot on offer within the club. Kopp was particularly pleased that the Kogelfest could take place again. The successful festival had a positive effect on the club's coffers, as the income primarily benefits the active team and youth work. In addition, the group was very active in sports: the men and women kept fit for their voluntary work with curling tournaments, ice hockey and weekly soccer training.

With three youth groups, the club is not plagued by any worries about young talent, the commander said happily. Würmseer was able to promote seven young firefighters into active service. There were also a few other promotions on the agenda. Six active members were honored for their long service.

Finally, Chairman Kopp thanked 24 comrades for their long-standing membership. Four comrades have been in the club for 25 years, twelve for 40 years and eight even for 50 years. “Such long-term loyalty to the club is no longer a given these days,” said the chairman.

Chief fire chief: Richard Obermayer.
