Highlights: The Miesbach District Youth Association (KJR) has been under external leadership since January of this year. The previous seven-member board, with the exception of assessor Jürgen Batek (Catholic Church), resigned at the end of 2023. The trigger was the failed negotiations with the district office over the basic contract and the budget. Bernd Rohrbach has led the KJR on an interim basis for the past few months. Two administrative staff are being sought to keep operations running at KJR. The search should be completed by May, so that the new staff can ideally start work in the summer. The last, but probably the most difficult, measure is to install a new board that can permanently lead the KJR, which, as is well known, is made up of the various youth welfare providers. “We want to bring the participating associations together, reported Rohr Bach. The Miesbach district youth association started the year 2024 without a board. The Upper Bavaria district youth association is currently working on a new start. The youth welfare committee now found out what it should look like.

District - Since January of this year, the Miesbach District Youth Association (KJR) has been under external leadership after the previous seven-member board, with the exception of assessor Jürgen Batek (Catholic Church), resigned at the end of 2023 (we reported). The trigger was the failed negotiations with the district office over the basic contract and the budget. Bernd Rohrbach has led the KJR on an interim basis for the past few months. The deputy chairman of the district youth association (BJR) presented the current status and the plans for how the KJR should return to calm waters yesterday in the youth welfare committee of the district council.

“Interim management” until autumn

The “intermediate management,” as Rohrbach called it, was tough. In addition to the board, which was no longer able to act with only one remaining member, the administrative team was also lost. With a bit of luck, this gap could be closed by recruiting two employees who had returned from parental leave, the Traunsteiner reported to the committee. He himself took on board work on a voluntary basis.

Management has priority

According to Rohrbach, three steps are planned for the path back to stability: The first step is to find new management. The search should be completed by May, so that the new staff can ideally start work in the summer. “We want to create a three-quarter position with 30 hours per week,” explained Rohrbach. In a second step, two administrative staff are being sought to keep operations running at KJR. The two current employees are available until the end of August.

New board wanted

The last, but probably the most difficult, measure is to install a new board that can permanently lead the KJR, which, as is well known, is made up of the various youth welfare providers. “We want to bring the participating associations together,” reported Rohrbach. You are already in contact.

The history - how it came about and how the dissolution took place - should not stand in the way of the restart. “We’re making a cut,” emphasized Rohrbach. “We are starting from the beginning.” In order to support the new board, coaching is planned to prepare them for work at the KJR. They also want to support the new management committee in their work.

Conversations with Miesbach's chamberlain

At the KJR's four youth centers - namely the FuKK in Miesbach, the Jute in Hausham, the JUZ Holzkirchen and Planet X in Tegernsee - the situation is inconsistent. While Hausham and Holzkirchen went well, it's the turn in Tegernsee. The most difficult situation is in Miesbach because the basic contract is expiring there. “But we are in good discussions with the city treasurer,” explained Rohrbach. As reported, the city has concluded a new operating agreement with the KJR, albeit with a shorter term. The new agreement only runs in 2024 - due to the uncertain situation. The new board should take over these negotiations that concern them.

If everything goes as planned, the district youth group wants to leave again in the fall and the KJR Miesbach can organize itself on its own. “We’ll still be involved in the summer,” said Rohrbach. In view of this program, the 2023 financial statements are currently being postponed. “It still has time.” In general, the representative emphasized that they wanted to create transparency in the budget: “We should see clearly: Where does the money come from and where does it go?”
