Residents have collected signatures against a recycling collection point in Tading. The community of Forstern is still holding on to the location on Pfarrer-Riedmaier-Straße.
Forstern – There are too few recycling container locations in the district. The district office is therefore looking for additional locations. Following a majority council decision, the municipality of Forstern proposed a place in Tading - but did not expect resistance from local residents. They collected signatures against it and the item ended up back on the agenda. The municipality still wants to stick to the location between the parking spaces on Pfarrer-Riedmaier-Straße - but has an additional solution up its sleeve.
As Rainer Streu (AWG) reported to the local council on Tuesday, he not only received emails and letters, but also a list with 85 signatures (out of 370 people registered in Tading). The mayor summarized their counterarguments and immediately refuted the concern that the construction would result in the loss of parking spaces for the church and the shooting center: “The containers should be built in between, parking spaces will not be lost,” he clarified and promised to make such matters public better and faster in the future wanting to communicate.
In a lengthy letter that our editorial team has received, the residents list a number of other reasons that speak against the location. This is primarily about constant exposure to noise, dirt and unpleasant smells. This includes the slamming of car doors as well as littering around the containers, which in turn attracts rats or wasps. The residents also point out dangers for the users of Schützenheim and orchards.
A central argument is the concern about increasing traffic congestion. The location is anything but centrally accessible on foot. “It must not be the case that this part of the community (the Tading residential area) is overburdened,” demand the residents and write of “unacceptable increased traffic from all over Forstern and the surrounding area”. This traffic is already a safety risk, which is why the 30 km/h speed limit is “long overdue”.
The main reason for the administration and the local council to look for additional locations was to ensure that a part of the community was not placed under excessive strain. This has been true for decades in Preisdorf, where there is the only public container site in the community - next to the recycling center in Forstern during opening hours. And while in Tading it is around 70 meters to the nearest residential building, inpreisedorf it is just 15 meters, explained Streu.
Nevertheless, they take the residents' criticism seriously and have therefore developed another solution, namely containers in the area in front of the recycling center, which can also be used outside of opening hours. However, Streu emphasized that this was not an alternative to Tading, but rather an additional location to ease the situation until the new recycling center was built. At the same time, he made it clear that they were still looking for a location in Karlsdorf.
The majority of local councilors did not see much of the residents' arguments. Peter Feckl (AWG), for example, said: “I can’t understand one of the reasons.” No matter where you plan recycling containers – “there will always be someone against it”. Erwin Nominacher (SPD) said that Preisdorfers were currently bearing the entire burden. “Our idea was that every district takes on a certain burden” – including Tading. He was annoyed that there was little solidarity shown here - he spoke of the Saint Florian principle. Franz-Josef Obermaier (AWG) also called for a greater sense of community, who considered it legitimate that there were opponents for the location, but that he had “no understanding” of it.
Anton Oskar (CSU), for example, argued differently. He said he viewed the Tadinger location quite critically: “It’s a dangerous corner up there,” he said, referring to the traffic. Instead, the location in Karlsdorf at the children's home should be revisited. The rest of the committee also agreed that the search should continue in Karlsdorf. However, the committee had already rejected the site on Ulmenweg in February.
On Tuesday, only four councilors voted to overturn the decision for Tading. So further discussions with the district office remain. The administration also wants to discuss the idea of setting up containers on the building yard forecourt. This decision was unanimous.
The residents who were at the meeting saw this as a partial success. When they had formulated their letter, there was no mention of a solution at the building yard, they said in an interview with our newspaper after the meeting. There is therefore no reason for the citizens of Forstern and Karlsdorf to drive any further to Tading to dispose of glass, paper and old clothes. You can certainly live with that, but you want to “stay on the ball” so that the other locations are actually realized. VRONI POWER
