"The full admission of Palestine to the UN would be an important pillar for achieving peace in our region. It is time for the Security Council to give justice to the Palestinian people."
This was stated by the special representative of the Palestinian president, Ziad Abu Amr. "Those who obstruct this result do not help the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians and in general in the Middle East", he added, addressing "countries like the USA who want to prevent our full admission when they supported that of Israel".
The Jewish State has a different opinion. "How detached from reality can the Security Council be to even consider a resolution proposing the full admission of Palestine to the UN when this would have zero positive impact for any party." This was stated by the Israeli ambassador to the Glass Palace, Gilad Erdan. "If this resolution passes, this Council should no longer be known as the Security Council but as the Terror Council," he added. "Do you really think that this resolution changes the situation on the ground or would bring peace closer?"
