Russia claimed Thursday to have neutralized 20 Ukrainian drones in several regions, particularly those bordering Ukraine.
“During the night, several attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks against sites located on Russian territory were prevented
,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement. The Russian army thus neutralized 20 drones, two Totchka-U ballistic missiles, as well as five balloons which are generally used to divert the attention of air defense systems, according to the same source.
Sixteen drones and the two missiles were notably destroyed above the Belgorod region, bordering Ukraine and the target of almost daily Ukrainian strikes, the press release specifies. A woman, injured in this attack, was hospitalized, according to the regional governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov. The other regions targeted are Voronezh, also bordering Ukraine, and Rostov, which houses the military headquarters of the Russian operation in Ukraine, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
Ukraine, faced with the Russian offensive for two years, has increased its attacks against Russia in recent weeks, particularly targeting energy sites. kyiv had promised to bring the fighting to Russian soil in retaliation for the numerous bombings on its territory.
