“Let's Dance” presenter Daniel Hartwich reveals why he rarely appears on other shows

TV viewers know Daniel Hartwich primarily from the RTL show “Let's Dance”. However, you rarely see the presenter as a guest on other shows. This is the reason.

Hamburg – Anyone who currently watches RTL on Friday evenings not only sees dancing celebrities, but also presenter Daniel Hartwich. The 45-year-old is one of the faces of the Cologne private broadcaster and has been presenting the dance show “Let's Dance,” which is so popular with viewers, since 2010. At that time, Hartwich replaced Hape Kerkeling (59) for the third season. The 17th season is now running on TV screens and there is still no end in sight.

Daniel Hartwich is usually only seen on RTL: “Let’s Dance” presenter is a guest on “Who knows something like that?”

Daniel Hartwich can't complain about the lack of TV presence. In addition to “Let's Dance”, the Frankfurt native also moderates the shows “Lego Masters”, “Show us your voice!” and the trampoline show “Big Bounce” on RTL. He was also seen for ten years alongside Sonja Zietlow (55) in the successful RTL format “I'm a Star – Get Me Out of Here!”. Hartwich took over the jungle camp moderation in January 2013 after Dirk Bach (†51) died unexpectedly a few months earlier. In 2022 he surprisingly announced his departure and was succeeded by Jan Köppen (41).

On RTL you can regularly see Daniel Hartwich, who also presented the casting show “Das Supertalent” from 2008 to 2020. Apart from that, the entertainer's TV appearances are rather rare. Most recently, however, he took part in the ARD quiz show “Who knows something like that?” together with his “Let’s Dance” co-host Victoria Swarovski (30).

On “Who knows something like that?”: Daniel Hartwich reveals why he rarely appears in other shows

In Thursday's episode (April 18), Kai Pflaume (56) asked him at the beginning of the show whether it was the first time that he had ever been seen as a guest on another show. “It doesn’t happen that often, that’s true,” answers Daniel Hartwich. The 45-year-old then immediately gives the reason for this: “You have to give people a break sometimes, to be honest. When they see me on other shows, I always think, 'Oh God, poor people.'”

“But now I've sorted things out a bit and now I have time,” explains Daniel Hartwich, who forms a team with Elton (53), who was shot by ProSieben, on “Who knows something like that?” “Have you ever had any experiences with Elton?” Kai Pflaume wants to know from him. The RTL presenter has to laugh: “The way Elton looks at me as if there was some story I could tell,” says Hartwich, who then thinks of the following anecdote: “We once met by chance in the pedestrian zone, there you have it (Elton, editor's note) shot for '1, 2 or 3'. Did we actually do an interview?”

Elton says yes and adds: “You also answered a question.” “Otherwise, no further. But I’ve seen him on TV before,” adds Hartwich, before presenter Kai Pflaume takes the floor again. In the final, the duo secured the day's victory and earned a total of 2,500 euros for the spectators in the audience. Daniel Hartwich and Victoria Swarovski are going back to the “Let's Dance” studio in Cologne on Friday.
