A police intervention is underway in Paris at the Iranian Consulate, located in rue de Fresnel, in the residential 16th arrondissement. Police sources reported this to Le Parisien. Around 11am, according to what was learned, a suspicious man was seen by a witness as he entered the consular headquarters in Tehran.
The witness, according to what was reported by the prefecture, "saw a man enter the Iranian Consulate with a hand bomb or a vest stuffed with explosives". The police prefect, Laurent Nuñez, ordered the immediate deployment of special units.
The suspicious man, who entered the Iranian consulate in Paris, declared that he had explosives with him and that he wanted to "avenge his brother": BFM TV learned this from security sources.
The prefecture specified that the Iranian consulate had made a "request for intervention".
The area is entirely cordoned off and inaccessible to anyone who is not part of the security services. Traffic on the subway lines serving the neighborhood is interrupted.
