“Clear place” in Oise: six arrests in connection with burglaries around Senlis and Chantilly

All week, the police have increased their efforts in several municipalities in the department, targeting parking lots in turn.


After the hunt for illegal parking around Beauvais airport this Tuesday, the rest of the week was hectic for the Oise national gendarmerie. Several “clear space” operations have been carried out in several towns in the department. Devices to fight against narcotics, control in transport... For the moment, the full results are not yet known, but already, one of the interventions has led to the arrest of several people suspected of being involved in origin of several burglaries in the districts of Chantilly and Senlis.

In a press release, the Senlis public prosecutor indicated that six people had been arrested and placed in police custody. At the end of the latter, four men aged 18 to 25 were placed in pre-trial detention this Friday. These individuals are suspected of being involved in “multiple aggravated and attempted thefts”.

An investigation opened in September 2023

“The burglaries, accompanied by damage and sometimes followed by destruction by fire, caused great harm to the numerous victims,” specifies the prosecutor. Since September 2023, investigators from the Senlis research brigade, and the Compiègne research brigade as well as several territorial brigades, have been working on this series of burglaries.

Other operations were held throughout the week. This Wednesday, April 17, the gendarmerie first invaded the municipalities of Chantilly, Senlis, Chambly, Crépy-en-Valois and Méru. Transport controls, against fraud and drug trafficking. According to the report, an individual was arrested and 335 g of cannabis seized, for a total of 163 people and 122 vehicles checked.

Still according to the Oise prefecture, this Friday, April 19, an anti-drug operation was jointly carried out by 96 gendarmes in Chantilly and Bornel, as well as a series of reinforced checks in Sérifontaine and Noyon. That same day, an “anti-fraud” action mobilized 12 gendarmes supported by four civil servants in Pont-Sainte-Maxence, Nanteuil-le-Haudouin and Fleurines. According to the prefecture, four businesses were thus inspected.

These large-scale operations should be “long-term”. In December, the prefect of Oise affirmed that she wanted to “make an impression by showing our striking force”.
