A 22-year-old man arrested for stabbing another 18-year-old man in a park in Ciudad Lineal

A 22-year-old young man of Ecuadorian nationality was arrested early this Saturday for his alleged relationship with the stabbing of an 18-year-old boy in a park in the Madrid district of Ciudad Lineal. The victim has been seriously injured in the leg, but there is no fear for his life. The National Police is investigating whether these events are related to youth gangs.

The events occurred around 1:15 in the Arriaga park, located at number 41 of the street with the same name, a Madrid Emergency spokeswoman reported. The young man suffered a stab wound to his right leg with an open fracture of the tibia. National Police agents, the first to arrive, have made a tourniquet for him. After being treated by Samur-Civil Protection paramedics, he was taken conscious and oriented by ambulance to the Gregorio Marañón hospital, where he was admitted with a serious prognosis, but his life is not in danger.

The injured man told the agents that he was with some friends in the park when another group of young people threatened them with bottles and a large machete. At one point, according to what the victim and several witnesses told the agents, a boy whom he did not know and who was “from an opposing gang” hit him in the leg with a machete. After the attack, the group of attackers fled the scene at full speed.

After a search through the area, members of the Ciudad Lineal District Police Station of the Municipal Police have located a 22-year-old young man of Ecuadorian nationality who was bleeding profusely on Aroca Avenue, crouched on a staircase leading to the park. through the nose as a result of a bottle crash. The agents have arrested him as the alleged perpetrator of the stabbing.

Agents from the Scientific Police Brigade of the National Police came to the scene and searched the area without locating the weapon of the attack. Also members of the Provincial Information Brigade of this same body, which is in charge of investigating events linked to youth gangs, although all hypotheses are open. The police continue to investigate to clarify if there are more people involved in the attack.
