The unmistakable image of a Vespa moped illustrates the stamp issued today by Italy and dedicated to the 'Vespa club of Italy'; this is a joint issue with the post office of the Republic of San Marino on the occasion of the 'Vespa world days 2024'. The stamp is valid for ordinary mail in the second weight bracket (50 grams), equal to 2.75 euros.
The Vespa created by Piaggio and patented on 23 April 1946, based on a design by the aeronautical engineer Corradino D'Ascanio, proved to be one of the most famous industrial design products in the world.
The 'Vespa club' of Italy was born as early as 1949, as its president Roberto Leardi recalls in the illustrative bulletin that accompanies the issue of the stamp. "Today the Vespa Club of Italy - writes Leardi - is a reality that brings together over 600 local clubs and around 90,000 members, giving life every year, in all the regions of Italy, to at least three hundred events of a tourist, sporting and historical-cultural nature and involving women and men of all ages, united by the same passion for the most loved scooter in the world".
