Giffoni will happen, but there is a wait for the funds to be released

It was last November 20th when the founder of Giffoni, Claudio Gubitosi, announced the theme ("The Illusion of Distance") of the 54th edition of the historic festival, which over the years from a film festival for children has transformed into a cultural event at 360 degrees, with initiatives all year round. However, only a few weeks pass before enthusiasm is replaced by despondency: the failure to allocate Cohesion Funds to the southern regions and Campania means that the funding necessary for the planning and organization of the festival is no longer available. Which therefore risks closure. Today, however, Gubitosi's announcement: "Thanks to the support and collaboration of the Campania Region, Giffoni54 will be and will be a stronger and more intense edition than ever". In recent months, patron Gubitosi has mobilized the world of culture and entertainment and launched "common sense" appeals to the government. Heartfelt requests, which found the support of several parliamentarians, who questioned the government, and of the governor of Campania himself, Vincenzo De Luca, who recalled how the paralysis of the regional cultural system would, among other things, put at risk thousands of jobs. The situation has not yet been resolved, but "while waiting for the signature of the agreement on the Development and Cohesion Funds" Gubitosi had those reassurances which today, on the occasion of the closure of Giffoni Shock, made him say: "Finally I can reassure everyone We are ready for #Giffoni54 which will take place from 19 to 28 July in Giffoni Valle Piana. On Tuesday we will proceed with the draw of the jurors. I thank governor De Luca for the commitment and support he has confirmed for us." In the coming weeks, therefore, we will know the contents of the 54th edition of Giffoni: "from national and international previews to great music, to street art. And then the many guests, representatives of the world of institutions, culture, art, of science, of journalism", says Gubitosi. "Over 120 films in competition, the selection of which will end at the end of May. There will be initiatives for parents and the strong presence of social themes." According to the patron, even in the absence of the signature between the government and the Region, "it is clear that an event like Giffoni could only be confirmed. With its 54 years of history it is an attraction capable of catalyzing the the love, affection and attention of millions of people. Over many years, Giffoni has attracted investments and created tourist flows. Here, millions of young people, from every corner of the world, have met and left, preserving an indelible memory of it their experience.
