The Córdoba police arrested a young man in the last few hours, who is accused of participating in a million-dollar robbery of a taxi driver who was leaving a financial company and who, while fleeing, was run over. The controversy arose when
they discovered that the detainee was a man with a motor disability,
who they would have confused with a thief who ran away.
The detainee is
Maximiliano Tejerina
, a Data Scientist and professional who graduated from Famaf at UNC, who was in the area at the time of the robbery and was detained by the police.

The robbery of which he is accused occurred this Friday around 5:00 p.m. Gustavo,
the victim, had left a financial institution with 5 million pesos
and stopped his taxi at the corner of Rivera Indarte and Humberto Primo. He wasn't working. There he was approached by a gang that had been following him. According to the officers, there were at least five people: four on two motorcycles and others in a car.
When the victim got out of the taxi, the motorcycles and a black Peugeot 2008 blocked his way. There they snatched her purse with the money. The taxi driver tried to defend himself and for a few moments managed to defend himself, but the gang ran him over with the car twice.
Desperate, Gustavo resisted and began a direct fight with the criminals, he even managed to beat one of them down and defend himself from the criminals. But at that moment the assailant who was in
the Peugeot ran over him twice.
“When I turned to one of them, and I wouldn't let him go, the car came and ran me over. That's where they took advantage and escaped. This is totally unfair,” he told

. Some of that money was left lying on the street. In this scenario, one of the motorcycle riders stayed under the motorcycle and fled on foot.
For this reason, and based on witness testimonies, the police arrested a suspect.
He was Tejerina.
According to his lawyer, Iván Mochkofsky, he had left work minutes before and had gone by bus to the Mercado Norte area. From there, he said, he left at 4 p.m. “like every day” and took a bus to the North Market. “He walked through Humberto Primo to get to General Paz and take a second bus that takes him to his neighborhood, September 12,” he indicated.
Then, he stopped to buy meat at a butcher shop, at 5:15 p.m., and paid with a card. She kept the receipt. This point was key, since it would prove that the detainee was not at the scene of the robbery, which occurred at that same time.
The receipt was presented by his family.
“The event was at 5 p.m. according to the media. It is presumed, due to the location of the butcher shop, which is a block and a half from the incident, that Tejerina was passing because he takes Humberto Primo to reach General Paz," the lawyer explained.
According to him, the hypothesis they have is that “he was intercepted on the way to the stop by police personnel.” “We don't know what happened there, someone may have said it was him,” she said. The police arrested him, among other things, because
he found about 38 thousand pesos on him.
But the key point for his lawyer is that he has difficulty moving. “He can't get on and off a motorcycle quickly or drive a vehicle, in fact the buses have to wait for him to get on,” he told

“It is difficult for him to move his hands, they are like a claw, it is quite crazy that they think that because of his disability he can do it,” the lawyer remarked. “He cannot shake a person, he cannot grab a bag and run easily,” he concluded.
