"The application process went on in a complicated way given that I can only talk to Ilaria for 10 minutes a day". Roberto Salis, father of the teacher detained in Hungary, said this during a meeting of La Repubblica delle Idee in Naples.

"Since this story was born I have tried to knock on all the doors I could - he said - sometimes they totally ignored me, they slammed the door in my face, sometimes I received a sign of solidarity and in some cases people who they decided to make a specific contribution. From there we were told by two established political entities and one in progress that there would be the possibility of a candidacy, this process proceeded in a complicated way, I can talk for ten minutes a day".

Salis clarifies that the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has been informed of Ilaria Salis' candidacy with Avs. "I tried from the beginning to involve the Head of State in Ilaria's affair as she is the guarantor of the Constitution - said Roberto Salis -, the first concern, especially for Ilaria, when the candidacy was decided, was to inform Mattarella The availability that the Head of State showed towards Ilaria's story especially struck my daughter who spoke of him as an affectionate grandfather, it seemed right to involve him in the candidacy as well." "We have article 3 of the Constitution which says that all citizens must have the same treatment before the law, it is not said in which country. Whoever wrote the Constitution was a little wiser than the political average we currently have. "Who represents the institutions should ensure that the law is respected not only by us but also by other states", he added.

"Ilaria is quite well, she is a very strong woman, she had a very hard time, especially the first 35 days of detention were difficult. We had no idea of what she was going through and this was a serious worry for me. She is better now prison conditions have improved a little and he finally received a hairdryer." This was said by Ilaria Salis' father, Roberto, who is taking part in a meeting at La Repubblica delle Idee taking place in Naples.

"In the last package delivered by the embassy she finally managed to receive a hairdryer and after 14 months she was able to dry her hair with an advanced tool", he explained.

Roberto Salis is moved when he talks about the story of his daughter Ilaria detained in Hungary. "I turned into a human rights activist 24 hours a day," he admits in Naples. "I'm Ilaria's dad, I don't do politics." He then also remembers the commitment of Ilaria's mother, of the whole family, "commitment and also a lot of pain".

"Ilaria - says her father Roberto finally - is quite well, she is a very strong woman, she had a very hard time, especially the first 35 days of detention were difficult. We had no idea of what she was going through and this for me was a serious worry. She is better now, prison conditions have improved a little, she finally received a hairdryer. In the last package delivered by the embassy she finally managed to receive a hairdryer and after 14 months she was able to dry her hair with an advanced tool. ".
