DFB team: Löw nominates Waldschmidt for the first time - Draxler is missing

The DFB squad for the upcoming tasks in the European Championship qualification is: Luca Waldschmidt can hope for his national team debut - Emre Can returns after a long time.



National coach Joachim Loew has nominated his squad for the upcoming international football matches. Luca Waldschmidt belongs for the first time to the DFB squad. The team will face the Netherlands and Northern Ireland in qualifying for the European Championship in September.

The 23-year-old Waldschmidt was at the U21 European Championships in June with seven goals top scorer of the tournament. In the current Bundesliga season, the Freiburg scored two goals in two games. After almost a year, Emre Can returns from Juventus to the national team. Also Toni Kroos and goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen are back for the start of the European Championship season.

Leroy Sané will miss the German national team for months because of a cruciate ligament injury. Also not there: Julian Draxler. He has to pause because of a foot injury.

In the continuation of the European Championship qualification Germany meets after three wins in three games on 6 September in Hamburg on the Netherlands. Three days later, the duel is at the still undefeated Northern Irish in Belfast. With two more successes, participation in the finals from 12 June to 12 July 2020 would almost be assured.
