Eintracht Frankfurt won the play-off second leg against Racing Strasbourg 3: 0 (1: 0) and thus made it 1-0 defeat from the first leg. An own goal from Strasbourg's Stefan Mitrovic (26th minute) ushered in the Frankfurt victory. Filip Kostic (60) and Danny Costa (66th) made in a turbulent game that the Eintracht drew as third German team in addition to Borussia Mönchengladbach and VfL Wolfsburg in the group stage.
Both teams ended the match in Frankfurt with only ten men: In Eintracht Ante Rebic saw the red card (44th), in the French Dimitri Lienard had to red (55th) from the field.
