In the evening, Monaco becomes the most important football venue in Europe. From 18 clock there will be drawn the eight groups of this Champions League season. (SPIEGEL ONLINE reported in the live blog of the event.)

The draw could make some spectacular group. Because: In Lostopf 1 are next to defending champion Liverpool and Europa League winner Chelsea, the six national champions of the highest-ranked leagues in the five-year rating. This means that two semi-finalists, among others, have landed in pot two last season, Tottenham Hotspur and Ajax Amsterdam. You are in high profile society. Real Madrid are also in pot 2 - Madrid was without a title last season.

Here are the four lot pots in the overview:

Pot 1:
Liverpool FC, Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich , Juventus, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, Zenit St Petersburg

Pot 2:
Real Madrid, Atlético, Borussia Dortmund , SSC Naples, Schachtar Donetsk, Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax Amsterdam, Benfica

Pot 3:
Olympique Lyon, Bayer Leverkusen , Salzburg, Olympiakos Piraeus, Club Brugge, Valencia CF, Inter Milan, Dinamo Zagreb

Pot 4:
Lokomotiv Moscow, KRC Genk, Galatasaray, RB Leipzig , Slavia Prague, Red Star Belgrade, Atalanta Bergamo, OSC Lille

Bayern are threatened, for example, a group with Real, Inter and France's runner-up OSC Lille. That would be the most difficult constellation from the perspective of Munich. It would also be possible to have a much simpler group, such as Schachtar Donetsk, Dinamo Zagreb and Slavia Prague.

Vice-champion Borussia Dortmund is expected to get a top opponent zugelost, he could meet about Liverpool with former BVB coach Jürgen Klopp. The only team from pot 1 against which Dortmund would be the favorite is the Russian champions Zenit Saint Petersburg.

Incidentally, BVB can not meet FC Bayern. Teams from the same country are split into different groups. And there is a special case: Due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict Donetsk and Zenit will not play in the same group - a clash will prevent the Uefa.

Here you can even perform the draw yourself, by random generator.

Here's how it works: Simply press the "Trigger" button to assign the teams from one pot to the eight groups.

The first round of the group stage will be played on 17 and 18 September. The final will take place on 30 May 2020, with the venue being the Istanbul Atatürk Olympic Stadium.
