Andrea Petkovic surprisingly defeated the two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova at the US Open. Petkovic beat Kvitova in sixth place after 1:35 hours 6: 4, 6: 4, battling Elise Mertens (Belgium / No.25) and Kristyna Pliskova (Czech Republic) for the last sixteen.
"That feels really good," said Petkovic, who is now ranked only 88th in the world rankings. But against Kvitova she has often played big: In the eleventh match against the Czech it was Petkovic's sixth victory. This is how it went this time: The first sentence she decided after 36 minutes for themselves. In the second Petkovic had to first take a break, before she found the form again and used at the end equal to their first match point.
