Eintracht Frankfurt faces a spectacular opponent in the group stage of the Europa League: Arsenal from the English Premier League is waiting. The other duels must be played by the Bundesliga club against Standard Liege and Vitória Guimaraes. This resulted in the draw in Monaco.
The Eintracht had failed in the preseason only in the Europa League semi-final on eventual winner FC Chelsea. As a Bundesliga seventh Frankfurt could reach in this season only on the qualification group stage, in the playoffs sat the concussion against Strasbourg.
VfL Wolfsburg meet KAA Gent from Belgium in Group I, while French participants St-Étienne and PFK Olexandrija from Ukraine are the other opponents. Wolfsburg is again represented internationally for the first time since the 2015/2016 season. At that time VfL reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League and failed there at the eventual winner Real Madrid.
As the third German club Borussia Mönchengladbach participates in the Europa League. The opponents of Borussia in Group J are: AS Roma, Istanbul Basaksehir FK and Wolfsberger AC from Austria.

The group stage starts on 19 September and ends with the sixth matchday on 12 December. The final on May 27, 2020 will take place in Gdańsk, Poland.
