Nikias Arndt won the eighth leg of the Tour of Spain and celebrated one of the greatest successes of his career. In pouring rain, the 27-year-old from Team Sunweb decided the sprint of a big breakaway group for himself. In the meantime, Arndt, who had meanwhile been suspended, had come back to the top only a few kilometers before the finish in Igualda.

It's amazing, I'm so happy, I'm so happy, "said Arndt," This is one of the best days of my career. "
The last German stage victory at the Vuelta in 2015 was celebrated by John Degenkolb. For Arndt it was after a stage win at the Giro d'Italia 2016, the biggest triumph of his career. At the Tour de France in 2017 he had once occupied the second place.
López loses Maillot Rojo again
At the top of the standings, there was another change of leadership: Before the first very heavy, only 94.4 km long mountain stage on Sunday, the Colombian Miguel Ángel López (Astana) lost the red jersey to the French outliers Nicolas Edet (Cofidis) and gave it so for the third time. López, like all favorites, finished the race nine minutes after the winner with the peloton.
A threat to the top favorites Edet will probably not despite his lead of about two and a half minutes on the runner-up Dylan Teuns. Although he is a good mountain rider, but does not count to Mitfavoriten on the overall victory.
