The Formula 1 drivers reacted in shock to the fatal accident of Formula 2 driver Anthoine Hubert. World Champion Lewis Hamilton called Hubert a "hero" on Instagram, "because he took the risk to live his dream."
Hamilton also recalled the dangers of the sport. "If anyone who watches us and enjoys it thinks that what we do is safe, he is subject to a tremendous mistake," wrote the Mercedes driver. "All drivers risk their lives as soon as they ride a race track and people should pay tribute to it."

The accident happened on the track, on which Hamilton and Co. this Sunday (15.10 clock, TV: RTL, Sky, Liveticker SPIEGEL ONLINE) will drive the Grand Prix of Belgium. The drivers must also pass the scene of the accident.
Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who will start from the pole position in the race, posted a photo on Instagram showing him and Hubert as teenagers in racing overalls. "I can not believe it, rest in peace," he wrote. Max Verstappen of Red Bull was "shocked by the tragic accident". "I think of all who love him and whom he loved," he wrote.

Also Hubert's French compatriot Esteban Ocon, who will drive for Renault in the coming season, shared a joint photo with the deceased. "I can not believe it, we were the same age, we started together with the race and fought each other for years on the track," wrote the Mercedes test driver.
Condition of Correa stable
Hubert died after a serious accident in the Formula 2 race at Spa his serious injuries. The 22-year-old raced into the defensive wall after the infamous Eau Rouge turn and was thrown back onto the track. There, the American Juan Manuel Correa caught him at full speed.
While Hubert's car broke down, Correa's car overturned and remained upside down on the track. The 20-year-old was severely injured in a helicopter in a hospital, his condition is serious after surgery but stable, says a statement by the Fia.
