US Open: Federer reaches the quarter

Roger Federer has reached the quarter-finals at the US Open in New York. The 38-year-old Swiss outclassed the Belgian David Goffin with 6: 2, 6: 2, 6: 0. Federer needed only 79 minutes for his success and is in the final Grand Slam tournament of the tennis season in total for the 13th time in the quarterfinals.

French Open champion Ashleigh Barty, however, has missed the quarter-finals. The Australian number two in the tennis world surprisingly lost to Wang Qiang from China 2-6, 4-6. The Chinese used her fourth match ball after 1:22 hours.

The French Open winners Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies have shown their comeback qualities at the last Grand Slam tournament of the year and reached the quarterfinals. The number twelve set double defeated in the knockout stages of the US Open Marcelo Arevalo (El Salvador) and Jonny O'Mara (United Kingdom) after lost starting 3: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4.
